There’s no doubt that being a busy mom comes with its own set of unique challenges. Not only are you trying to taking care of little ones but you’re up keeping the house, maybe a career, and your own sanity. It’s a lot. When it comes to getting ahead you might feel like it’s a little impossible. I promise it’s not. And I want to help you see that getting ahead is a matter of shifting your perception.
1. SLOW DOWN
Yes, I know this one seems a counter intuitive. But that’s what this whole list is about. Doing things differently.
When you are constantly trying to push to get ahead, you actually are counter productive. And here’s why. When you are stressed (e.g. pushing) your body releases endorphins to help keep you amped up and moving.
According to the Mayo Clinic—Cortisol—is the primary stress hormone. Consequently, cortisol curbs non-essential functions of the body to prepare you for fight-or-flight. This means that when you are feeling stressed, your body is actually operating at a very primal level.
You have less blood and oxygen going to your brain. This is what leads to brain fog.
So if you want to get ahead more quickly. You’ll need to slow down to allow your body the ability to find balance. This enables you to think more clearly and strategically.
2. FIND SUPPORT
Do you feel alone and misunderstood? You aren’t meant to do this journey alone. I am 100% an introvert… I was convinced for years that I could do this alone. I even thought I could change the world without ever putting myself “out there.”
Together we are stronger.
Now, I’m not telling you that you have to start out shouting from the rooftops. However, I do encourage you to find a like-minded community that uplifts and inspires you.
Find women that are striving to grow just like you. Because at the end of the day, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose wisely.
3. WRITE IT DOWN
Did you know (according to CNBC) that you become 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams, simply by writing them down on a daily basis?
Writing your goals down means you have to stop and get clear on what you want. The process of putting your goals on paper opens the door to strategizing your future, asking questions about your current progress and gives you the chance to find small steps forward.
This isn’t a one-time thing though. Repetition is one of the KEY ELEMENTS OF GROWTH. Remember, if you keep doing the same thing you are doing now…. you will continue to get the same results. Are you finally ready to try something different to get ahead more quickly?
