Do you ever feel like true happiness is elusive? Well, let me ask you another questionโฆ How often do you find yourself constantly comparing? OMG, look at her waist, I still canโt get rid of this baby weight. Wow, she has such a beautiful complexion, ugh look at these wrinkles.
Honestly, we grow up comparing ourselves to others & this is the true thief of happiness. Our society breeds this sense of competition and a lack of self-worth. But why? Somewhere along the lines, our mothers pass along their own insecurity.
I remember being 13 years old on vacation and my mother crying furiously because she didnโt want to wear a bathing suit. She was disgusted with herself because she felt โfatโ. I will never forget that sense of insecurity because at that moment it also became baked into my subconscious.
What are you passing along to your kids? Your daughter? Teach your kids the meaning of being happy by teaching them self-love.
As a mother, you may not truly understand how your own insecurities are impacting your children. But they 100% are. Itโs up to you to break the cycle.
Honesty, what good does this competition do for us? It makes us depressed, angry, jealous, and fearful! No good comes from beating ourselves up. Itโs time to stop. Stop comparing yourself to others.
You are beautiful, worthy, unique, and amazing just the way you are. That’s where you find your happiness.
You bring a special perspective to the world, embrace it. And teach your children to do the same. The world will be a much better place for it.
